William Dunn is the President of Strategic Resilience Group, LLC. He founded the company in Sept 2015 after completing over 33 years in the United States Marine Corps. He enlisted in the USMCR in 1983 and completed boot camp, at Parris Island SC. Remaining in the USMCR for the next 4 years he attained the rank of Sergeant. During this time, he attended Old Dominion University, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant via the PLC program in 1988.

Upon completion of the Basic School and the Infantry Officers Course in Quantico, Virginia, he Reported to NAS Pensacola for flight training. He was assigned as a Marine Cobra pilot, moved to New River NC, and completed two Mediterranean deployments. Upon return from deployment he attended Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Instructor (WTI) Course in Yuma Arizona. Upon completion of WTI he returned to New River and held the billet of squadron WTI. During this time, he completed his Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Boston University.

During the next several years he held various billets and completed aadditional deployments. He attained the rank of LtCol in 2005 and on 11 May 2006 he assumed command of HMLA-369, “The Gunfighters.” In April 2007, he deployed to Iraq, for 7 months, with The Gunfighters in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom 06-08.

In June of 2008, he attended Top Level School at the Joint Advanced Warfighting School in Norfolk VA. During the school year, he completed his Master’s degree in Strategic Studies. He was promoted to Col in Jul 2009. Upon completion of school he was transferred to Offutt AFB for his joint tour. During this tour, he held the billets of Battle Watch Commander, Current Operations Officer, and J-3 of Joint Functional Component Command Global Strike.

After his joint tour, he went on to command Marine Aircraft Group-40 which deployed in 2012 to the Kuwait and Bahrain. Upon return from the deployment he assumed command of the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit and in 2014 he completed a 9-month deployment to the Arabian Gulf.

He retired from the USMC in Nov 2016. He is married to the former Miriam O’ Such and they have two daughters, Sarah, and Laura.
