VA Veteran-Owned Small Business Verification Deadlines Approaching

For many veteran-owned businesses who had been verified by the VA, letters were received in December 2010 advising of “important changes to the Department of Veterans Affairs Vendor Information Pages database of Veteran-owned small businesses.” The dates for submission are rapidly approaching and we are encouraging and reminding businesses owners to complete the process and submit the required documentation. The letter advised that businesses have 90-days from the receipt of the letter to submit appropriate documentation.

In summary, the letter advised veteran owned businesses that to continue to participate in the Veteran’s First Contracting Program, a new application was required including the completion of two parts: Part 1: Logging onto www.vip.vetbiz.gov, entering email address and password, reviewing profile for accuracy, filling out the VA Form 0877, and signing the form electronically; Part 2: completing the verification process which includes additional elements (e.g., General Information such as licenses and resumes); Financial Information (e.g., Federal tax forms depending type of company, payroll ledger summaries and W-2’s; financial institution signature cards; and copies of the cover pages and signature pages of the last 5 contracts); Management information (e.g., Building lease agreements or 3-months worth of instruments supporting payment of agreements); Legal structure (e.g., voting, partnership agreement, shareholder agreement, formation documents, minutes, by-laws, articles of organization/articles of incorporation, and stock ledgers).
