Edward Syms
As the founder, President and CEO of Syms Strategic Group, LLC, (SSG) a Small Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB), Ed Syms brings an exceptional level of knowledge and experience as a “hands-on” executive with over 30 years of leadership experience in Program Management, Human Resources, Federal Acquisitions, and Military and Federal Agency Operations.
Ed is a retired from the U.S. Air Force, serving 22 years on Active Duty and is a Service-Disabled Veteran. Additional professional experience includes serving as a Senior Vice President with Favor TechConsulting and Apex Data Solutions, IT Director (GS-15) for over 10 years in the Department of Veterans Affairs, civilian employee with the Department of the Army, and with the former Dictaphone Corporation (now Nuance).
While with the VA, Ed led the execution and development of over 60 VA Healthcare IT projects over his 10 years in the VA. His work directly impacted the health and welfare and improved healthcare outcomes for over 10 million Veterans a year. Continuing to serve, Ed supported the Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA) for over 6 years, serving as the Chairman of the Mission Able Awards. He also supported the National Disabled Veterans Winter Sports Clinic in Snowmass, Colorado for 4 years. Ed is currently a member of the Executive Committee for Willing Warriors, a privately funded, Veteran-focused 501 (c) located in Haymarket, VA.
Ed earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Liberty University. He holds the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute and previously held the prestigious Senior/Expert level Program Management (FAC) certification from the Federal Acquisition Institute (FAI). Ed has also earned hundreds of military and civil awards including the 2017, 2018 & 2019 FedHealthIT 100 award recognizing individuals leading change and advancement in Federal Health Information Technology. Ed was inducted into the inaugural FedHealthIT 100 Hall of Fame in 2020.
Ed is married to Kelli Syms and lives in Ashburn, VA.
