“Virtual” Veteran Entrepreneur Training Symposium 2020 (V-VETS’20)

November 4, 2020 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Welcome to the “Virtual” Veteran Entrepreneur Training Symposium 2020 (V-VETS’20). V-VETS’ 20 is a 16-part webinar series held every Tuesday starting on July 7 to November 4 (equals 2- day conference).

COVID-19 and Excusable Delay
Speaker:  Ms. Sarah Schauerte Reida, Attorney at Law, Legal Meets Practical

Particularly for contractors performing services in the federal arena, work may be impacted due to COVID effects, such as the need to social distance, employee absenteeism, and hiring/retention difficulties. As we know, the penalties for deficient performance of a government contract can be dire, including “equitable adjustments” applied to invoice payment and even termination for default. Accordingly, if your performance is affected by COVID, you need to know what to do to protect your rights and money while also maintaining a solid relationship with the government client. This webinar explores a contractor’s burden of proof in showing excusable delay due to COVID, timing of actions, and the process for pursuing and appealing claims based on COVID-related delays and impact. Many of these takeaways can be applied to delays and changes to government contracts in general, so this information can be applied even after we finally get that COVID vaccine!
