Awards Criteria
NVSBC presents five distinguished award categories, recognizing more than 50 exceptional honorees annually. Each award celebrates leadership, innovation, and commitment to strengthening opportunities for Veteran-Owned Small Businesses (VOSBs) and Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses (SDVOSBs).
Nominations will be accepted July 1, 2026 – September 1, 2026

The Awards Categories
Champion of Veteran Enterprise Award
Honors federal agencies & large prime contractors that are driving meaningful growth for Veteran-owned businesses through contracting opportunities. This award recognizes organizations that go beyond requirements by actively expanding access, increasing spend, and creating pathways for SD/VOSB’s to succeed.
- Hall of Fame: Sustained excellence – meeting SD/VOSB goals for 5 consecutive years
- Champions: Achieved SD/VOSB goals in the most recent fiscal year
- Rising Stars: Demonstrated growth by increasing SD/VOSB contract spend since previous fiscal year
Veteran Small Business Advocate of the Year Award
Recognizes individuals who have gone above and beyond to champion Veteran-owned businesses and advocate for their success.
These advocates are the connectors, influencers, and leaders who actively create opportunities and remove barriers across the federal and business landscape.
Awarded in these categories:
- Individual Federal Representative
- Individual Large Prime Contractor
- Individual Service Provider
Gordon H. Mansfield Veteran Small Business Award
Celebrates a Veteran entrepreneur who exemplifies leadership, service, and sustained impact.
This award honors a business owner who not only operates a successful company, but also:
- Creates meaningful employment opportunities for Veterans
- Gives back to the Veteran community in substantial and lasting ways
Small Business of the Year
Recognizes a VOSB or SDVOSB who demonstrated exemplary “Best Practices” in the federal government with a successful track record and a commitment to strengthening Veteran-owned businesses within the community.
Small Business Employee of the Year
Honors an outstanding employee of a VOSB or SDVOSB whose contributions have made a significant impact.
This award celebrates individuals who:
- Drive meaningful results within their organization
- Demonstrate dedication to the SD/VOSB community
- Helps elevate their company’s mission and success
