Bruce is the owner and chief marketing consultant for INSIGHT Higher Ed, a consulting firm specializing in growth strategies for higher education and nonprofit organizations.
With a career that began in advertising, Bruce’s journey took a unique turn when a short-term consulting project with a university sparked a new passion. This led to a career pivot, focusing on helping mission-driven organizations achieve their goals through more effective marketing. His advertising background, which included managing accounts for top agencies and brands, brings a unique perspective to the higher education and nonprofit sectors.
As a practitioner, Bruce has held executive-level marketing roles at several colleges and universities, led marketing and customer service departments for a federal training organization (Graduate School USA), and worked with Ronald McDonald House Charities Norfolk, Clemson University, Texas A&M, and multiple private colleges to develop and implement organizationally appropriate growth strategies.
Along with helping organizations grow, Bruce enjoys investing in individuals’ success. He has provided training to small business owners through the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce and spoken to marketers at national conferences, including the American Marketing Association (AMA) Symposium for the Marketing of Higher Ed and the AMA Nonprofit Marketing Conference. He’s also taught and mentored entrepreneurs at several universities, teaching MBA courses in marketing, advertising, digital strategy, business communications, and marketing analytics.
